As you may know, the chilis are in the process of writing songs for an upcoming album possibly released at the end of 2010. So far, these last months have mostly been focused around John Frusciante. A lot of rumours have been going on, the mainly one about Johns fellow friend Josh Klinghoffer replacing Frusciante.
Latest news about this comes from Chad Smith (who has been the most "active" RHCP member in the media this year) who claims that he has been told not to answer any questions regarding John. (http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/chad-smith-ive-been-told-to-stay-away-from-questions-about-john-frusciante/#more-26477)
I`m excited to hear new material from them of course, but also really worried about this "mess". The four of them have a special, magical connection and it would be a shame if John decides not take part of this new RHCP era.
To be continued..

Where have you heard about Josh replacing him??? That's interesting and scary at the same time.
Personally, I think that they're simply trying to avoid problems within the band. I don't think it's fair to bug the same person over and over about someone ELSE in the band. If I was John I'd be quite aggetated by now with all the rumours.
Who knows, I hope he's still in the band. I can't see anything else really working.

^Well, Im a member on the site stadium-arcadium.com where about 3 people have recently signed up and starting this rumour, so again, its just a rumour and shouldnt be taken with all seriousness.
Yeah, I agree what you said about John. Chads recent comment made me scared though. It would be really nice to hear a comment from John right now. Although, he usually keeps himself behind the spotlight when it comes to stuff like this.
They are playing on that Neil Young tribute concert in January (I think its the 29th). Hopefully, John will attend it..

Ya I heard John just doesn't want to tour anymore, from www.invisible-movement.net a non official site. He just needs time off to recharge. After being off for 2 years he'll feel different about it. Made a correction. It wasn't .com it was .net. And I think I got the hang of this tagging thing now.

It's not the Chili Peppers with out John. He along with all the other members define their style, and a replacement would just not be the same. If the rumor is true and John doesn't plan on touring with them, that would be quite a shame. I don' think that John wouldn't tour with them. Each member is part of the Chili's, no one can replace them, and I think John more then anybody knows that.

i wouldn't give it too much attention, rumors are in most cases just rumors, and it doesn't take long for it to change drastically. first he was quitting, now they say josh is replacing him? whats next, dave navarro is gonna come back too? with all that said, i think i'd like to see them with more people in the band. specially with so many songs with multiple guitars, and piano parts in the arrangement. im thinking Billy Preston with the Beatles. but definitely nothing would work without john.

Yeah it'd be sweet to have a keyboardist, especially for a lot of the cali-present. Billy Preston isn't with us anymore though unfortunately.

well i was referring to have a "5th member" with the chilis in the same manner that Preston was on Let It Be, not as Preston actually playing, but that would be awesome!! its really too bad he's not around anymore....RIP Billy!

Well, also why Josh K has been mentioned is that he recently quit as the drummer for the band Warpaint. A member of that band said "He`s off working with the chili peppers". And Chad mentioned that they are experimenting with piano on some song ideas. It would be really cool if Josh joined as a 5th member imo. He knows the band very well and he`s a great musician. I dont really see him replacing John though, but no one can do that I believe..

Personally I'd accept Josh as a 5th member as long as it would be the Chilis and Josh Klinghoffer.
Actually John is reason why I love the Chilis, so it'd be horrible if he left.

That be awesome if Josh joined the Chili's. He already played with them on some of their Stadium tour shows. Having Josh would give the guitar aspect of the Chili's so much more to do live rather than having just John. I mean, Johns amazing by himself, just imagine what he would be able to create with Josh playing stuff in the back and harmonizing and stuff.
