I got this strat used for $850 a couple years ago. I believe they cost around $1400 or $1500 new at a guitar center. I was actually planning on buying a new mexican made strat or a used american standard but I ran into this gem. I got it because I loved how it felt, it has my favorite finish on it (black with maple neck), and it was a decent price for a mint condition american made guitar. It features a very smooth maple neck, nice alder body, standard black finish, vintage tuners and bridge, fixed tremolo, and a MDX mid boost knob instead of the second tone knob. This strat is an unusual single coil type guitar in that it has a mid boost knob. This gives the guitar a woman tone similar to that in a les paul or other humbucker type guitar. But it is still a single coil guitar so it won't sound exactly like a humbucker. It's an interesting effect but I don't use it much at all. The other huge aspect of this strat is its noiseless pickups. I have never been a fan of these style of pickups but it seems to go very well with this guitar but I can't quite place my finger on why. It gives it a sort of sterile effect but in a good way. The guitar shines the most when playing that Clapton style bluesy rock. That's not to say that it can't play pretty much any other genre. It's still a stratocaster so it will play almost anything you want it to. Overall I don't that it's all that it's hyped up to be but it is still a fine instrument great for playing rock and blues.
